Musashino Plateau and Japan — a pair of 3D computer animations directed by Nobuo Takahashi — illustrate (in dramatic fashion) how Japan’s landscape changed during the postwar period of rapid economic growth. The animations begin slowly with the early postwar recovery years, but the pace quickens to a frenzy as explosive growth during the bubble years (late ’80s/early ’90s) transforms the cityscape into a chaotic, tightly packed jumble of single-family homes, large apartment complexes and high-rise buildings. In the end, development grinds to a halt with the collapse of the bubble.

Cosmic Zoom is a 1968 animated short film directed by Eva Szasz, made under the auspices of the National Film Board of Canada, and was the inspiration of the Eames' wonderful Powers of Ten. Cosmic Zoom was in turn based on Cosmic View: The Universe in 40 Jumps by Kees Boeke.

Powers of Ten is a short film by Charles and Ray Eames, whose work you may have previously sat in. The film starts on a picnic blanket in Chicago and zooms out 10x every 10 seconds until the entire universe (more or less) is visible. And then they zoom all the way back down into the nucleus of an atom. A timeless classic.

Low Morale: Creep is a music video of Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ song. It took 3 months to create and contains over one million key frames. I know this because I counted them. I counted them because I made the animation and delivered every one of those mewling baby key frames. Creep was created as an extension to a series of shorts called `Low Morale’ which I began to develop during a well-paid, comfortable yet soul-destroying job as a senior designer in a multimedia agency. The countless days spent in the run down converted office, churning out banal multimedia and animation for faceless, lifeless, clueless blue chips had taken their toll on my soul. Creep became my creative escape tunnel. The video actually started as a lip-syncing experiment with the central Low Morale character but rapidly grew into a cathartic opus that aimed to reflect my job dissatisfaction and the pain caused by a broken relationship. Ron Mueck's Photo-Realistic Sculpture

Ron Mueck is an Australian born London-based photo-realist artist. His parents were toy makers. He worked on children's television shows for 15 years before creating special effects for the 1986 film as Labyrinth.

He then started his own company in London, making models to be photographed for advertisements. Now he's creating on his own and showcasing his work in places such as the Royal Academy, the Millennium Dome in London and the Venice Biennale.
